Who does your hair?

Wow! A very big shout out to everyone for donating so far to this cause that is very close to my heart. We have far exceeded my goal with your generous donations and I know Harry would be saying ‘Who does your hair’ 😂 Seriously though, one of the reasons I am walking 122km is currently in our country over 122000 people are homeless, living in cars, on sidewalks, parks and bush camps. We cannot solve this issue but we can make a difference, we will make a difference. Share my page far and wide and continue to share the conversation. Harry loved us all 🥰

Happy 60th Harry xx

Wishing my big brother Scott a very happy heavenly 60th birthday. I am dedicating this walk to him and the many others who are travelling in the same shoes as Scott.

My family and I have experienced first hand the impacts that homelessness can have on an individual and their family.

Scott McLean also known as Harry was a well-known and liked character in the Albury Wodonga area, using a bike as his main mode of transport between the two cities. Harry experienced trauma as a teen and again as a young adult causing mental health issues and alcohol addiction. This led him to retract overtime from main stream society and reside in bush camps or on friend’s couches. Over the years our family did everything we could to support him from accommodation, food, clothing, money and love.

In June 22, from Queensland, I queried his whereabouts as he had not made contact with myself or the rest of the family for a period of time. This wasn’t unusual for him as he would usually turn up or call and say he had been away helping friends out on farms and in return he would get a place to stay.

In Dec 22 we travelled to the area and searched extensively for him on land and using all social media platforms to locate him. He was listed as a missing person soon after. We returned to Albury several times in 2023 to continue our search and sometimes came very close to locating him. Harry was sadly found deceased in August 2023 at his bush camp on the banks of the Murray River between Albury and Wodonga. Whilst there was no foul play surrounding his death, the coroner was unable to ascertain the cause of his death. This has been a very difficult time for my family as we have been left with many unanswered questions as to what happened to him and what else could we as a family and a community have done to assist Harry and others like him.

For this reason, I have chosen to walk for Orange Sky in order to raise awareness and provide connection for the homeless in our communities through clean laundry, warm showers, and genuine conversation. A basic need of every individual on this planet.

Please help me raise the funds needed to keep this amazing support system running.

Kindness always

Melody xx
